Headquartered at the stylin’ new Westin & Wildwood Snowmass resorts, the inaugural Après Ski Cocktail Classic celebrates the union of upbeat après-ski culture and craft cocktails March 14 to 17, 2013. With grand tastings of everything from hot toddies to frozen concoctions, plus cozy fireside chats and seminars from expert mixologists, cocktail competitions and mountain-top parties, this weekend celebration promises not only to be informative, but a whole lot of fun.
I love that the event culminates on St. Patrick’s Day — traditionally an incredibly festive day on Snowmass’ (green) slopes! Events take place in and around the new slopeside Westin Snowmass Resort and the Wildwood Snowmass. I’m a huge fan of these gorgeous new properties.
While the Westin Snowmass Resort exudes a sophistication that you can expect from the renowned Starwood hotel brand, the Wildwood Snowmass is a smaller, more budget-friendly lodge, with a funky, fun vibe. The Bar at Wildwood, with its 10 New Belguim beers on tap, is definitely a place you want to check out, whether you’re in town for the Après Ski Cocktail Classic or not.
The Westin Snowmass has a great open and airy lobby with plenty of comfortable seating arranged for gathering and chatting — and ordering a drink from the adjacent Vue Lounge. Floor to ceiling windows provide fabulous views of the ski area’s Fanny Hill and surrounding mountains.
I appreciate that tickets to the Après Ski Cocktail Classic are available in all price ranges. You can buy a ticket to attend one seminar (such as “The Right Glassware for the Right Drink” or “Hot Toddies 101”) for as little as $31. The fee for a Pub Crawl featuring Irish whiskies and whisky cocktails is also $31. Grand Tasting Pass is $60, while the All-Access VIP Pass is $365. For all the pricing and schedule details, visit the Après Ski Cocktail Classic website.
