Sometimes I think the world can be divided into two basic types of people: Those that wear real pajamas and nightgowns to sleep, and those that secretly prefer that old, oversized tee shirt — you know, the one that’s been through the wash so many times that it’s super soft, but too embarrassing to pack for vacations. Well, Bamjamz (bamboo pajamas) is a new sleepwear line that easily bridges the gap between those two types of nighttime clothing. The bamboo clothing is as unbelievably comfortable and soft as an old tee-shirt, yet also cute enough to lounge around in with relatives during a family vacation, or gal pals during a girlfriend getaway.
Bamjamz are made from bamboo, a sustainable, eco-friendly material (seriously, the stuff grows so fast; my neighbor has to trim her decorative bamboo twice a week). The Bamjamz Bamboo Organic Stretch Blend fabric is softer than cotton, and mine’s been through enough laundry cycles that I can vouch for the brand’s color-fastness as well. It’s wrinkle resistant too. But don’t let that “stretch blend” name fool you: wearing Bamjamz is nothing at all like wearing Lycra or spandex (though spandex is 8% of the material). Loose, comfortable and cozy, with the ability to hold its shape and not get baggy — that’s Bamjamz.
The bamboo that Bamjamz uses to make pajamas and lounge wear is organic, grown naturally with no herbicides, pesticides or even water-wasting irrigation. Bamboo is considered one of the most sustainable crops to use for clothing: my pajamas are the Bamjamz jersey blend: 64% bamboo, 28% organic cotton, 8% spandex. Bamjamz clothing would be a great eco-friendly gift.
Now, the company claims that Bamjamz are appropriate to wear to the beach, on an airplane, and other casual travel environments. I don’t know about that. But I can absolutely attest that these incredibly comfortable loungewear pieces, with cute graphic designs on the shirts and jerseys, are fitting to wear on a spa vacation with girlfriends. In fact, I’m considering planning a spa getaway trip with friends, and there’s no doubt that I’d pack my Bamjamz sleepwear. It’s just perfect.
Disclaimer: I received Bamjamz bamboo pajamas to review. I like this clothing so much, in fact, that I may be wearing them right now.
