All of those Democratic National Convention superdelagates who will be congregating in Denver next month sure are going to work up a thirst after meeting and convening and nominating and…. well, doing whatever it is delegates do at a convention.
So, I bet once the day’s activities are done, they’re going to need some refreshments — and there’s no better way to take in the local happy-hour scene in Denver than at one of the local microbreweries. After all, Denver produces more beer than any other city in the United States — 80 different kinds are brewed in the Mile High City daily.
Here’s where I bet the delegates will flock to celebrate the goings-on. Heck, my guess is even Obama will sample some local suds when he’s in town!
The Wynkoop Brewing Company is owned by Denver’s mayor, John Hickenlooper. It’s across the street from the historic Union Station railyard (one of the brews is Railyard Ale) in always hopping LoDo (lower downtown). It’s got a ton of pool tables upstairs for entertainment.
I like the Rock Bottom Brewery because it’s right on the 16th Street pedestrian mall. If you can snag a table outside in the summertime, it’s a great place to people watch.
The Breckenridge Brewery is steps away from Coors Field. So if any of those DNC superdelegates have time to take in a Rockies game, I’d recommend going here after the game. Yes, Breckenridge is a Colorado ski town, and that’s where the original brewpub opened in 1990.
Drink up!
