Great post!

I also saved money for my vacation by cutting my regular costs and my budget.

I’ve been looking for ways to economize and when my cell contract was up, I got a Net10 phone. I pay 10¢ a minute and 3¢ for texts. It’s a terrific value and there’s no contract or overages.

Highly recommended!

Wow! I am impressed that you were able to spend a week in Ireland and pay for airfare for a family of 4, for less than 4k…that’s a deal! Would love to hear more about how you put that trip together and when you went. I definately think that seeing the world, other countries, and other cultures is the way to go….Ireland maybe cheaper in the spring when its still cooler and rainy, than in the high season. In fact, that’s another great tip- travelling to places during the shoulder season, can often be just as much fun and cost a lot less!

PS the beach house was oceanfront, and had a jacuzzi. We definately could have gone cheaper, farther from the ocean and not as new, but that’s why we sacrificed flying to mexico! The key really is to make the vacation what YOU want it to be, do the research and PLAN. Thanks Dan!

4K for a family of 4 renting a beach home with another family? What the heck? We flew with our two kids to Ireland at spring break and spent a week there for less than 4K. And we didn’t go with another family! There are better deals out there. See the world with your kids!
