Columbia Sportswear Base Layers for Women

Winter’s arrived in the Colorado Rockies, and this is the time of year my family’s weekend adventures typically feature skiing, sledding or otherwise playing outdoors in chilly weather — whether it’s in our backyard or at a nearby ski resort. Always in my winter bag: base layers to keep me toasty warm underneath snowpants and fleece. My new favorites are this darling pant and top from Columbi a Sportswear, featuring multi-color stripes and Omni-Heat and Omni-Wick technology.

This duo earns high marks for its feminine flair; I’m not typically one to wear anything pink, but I just can’t resist the perky thin stripes (alternating pink, blue and yellow). I appreciate the pretty pattern sticking out from underneath a half-zip pullover. But most importantly, this material is comfortable. The 86% polyester and 14% elastane combo is super stretchy soft; both pieces fit like a glove from the moment I pulled them out of their boxes.

The top’s sleeves are generously long, so they won’t ride up as I’m moving around outside. I like how the waist dips in a bit for a snug fit underneath other layers. It’s also long enough to tuck into pants, but not too long that it adds any extra bulk. The neckline is high, but not so high it feels too tight.

The pants have a wide waistband that doesn’t fold down. These, too, are the perfect length and fit snugly around the calf for best tucking into boots.

The Omni-Heat reflective dots found on the interior of the top and tights help reflect my own body heat to keep me warm outside. Columbia’s patented Omni-Wick treatment is applied to areas that need to wick moisture most (I’m assuming one such area is around the armpits). An antimicrobial treatment is also applied to the fabric to help keep it smelling fresh.

Purchase these pieces via the Columbia Sportswear website  for $60 each.

Thanks, Columbia Sportswear, for supplying these pieces.
