Internet surveys indicate that mothers are the primary family vacation planners. In light of this, last year the Walt Disney World Corp. created an online forum called the Moms Panel; the site provides tips for guests visiting the park. With over 20 resort hotels, two water parks and four theme parks – not to mention all those restaurants and shops – it helps travel planners to winnow down the Disney experience to a manageable size. The 12 “Moms” (actually 11 moms and one dad) have answered almost 9,000 questions so far – justifying the need for the Moms Panel!
Launched in 2008, the Walt Disney World Moms Panel is an online forum for questions and answers, tips and suggestions for people planning vacations in the Walt Disney World resort. On Sept 8 2008, applications will be accepted from parents who want to be part of the 2009 panel; Walt Disney World is extending the panel to 16 parents. The application consists (in part) of three short-answer questions in which interested moms and dads explain why they should be chosen as panelists. A diverse group of moms and dads – even grandparents – are being sought for the 2009 panel. What should applicants offer? A solid, in-depth knowledge of the Disney parks in Orlando Florida, and the desire and ability to share this information with others. Visit Disney World Moms to learn more about the Disney World Moms Panel and apply. And (I love saving the best for last) each of the selected 16 panelists will serve for a year, and get a 6-day, 5-night vacation in Walt Disney World for four people. Wow! A full week a Disney World for four people, on top of getting to give tips and advice to people planning Disney vacations? Sounds pretty awesome to me.
