By now, people who know me have heard of the worse vacation I’ve ever taken. It was in Puerto Rico; my family, husband, children, and brother in law all stayed in a rental condo that was…well, misleadingly advertised (the general crappiness must have been photoshopped out). It wasn’t just the vacation home rental that had problems. There was a problem with biting red ants. It rained almost every day, the crib wasn’t safe for my baby, and my toddler ended up getting DRUNK at a restaurant. That trip couldn’t end soon enough! Talk about a family vacation gone wrong.
Not every family travel experience can be the best, or even just good. And now, thankfully, TravelGuard.com is helping us poor, beleaguered victims of bad vacations get at least something positive out of them. Remember that disastrous trip? Well, get out your digital video camera and describe it – upload a video to the Travel Guard website describing your pitiful trip, and every month, Travel Guard will give away two Flip UltraHD camcorders to whoever gets the most votes and one person who voted for the that video. But wait – it gets better! At the end of the year, all 12 videos that won each month will be entered for what’s described as a $10,000 travel ultimate dream vacation.
We hear so much about the best family vacations ever – and possibly sit through interminable displays of photographs (“Here’s Baby Jordan on the beach, here’s Baby Jordan in her stroller”). For those of us who’ve see family travel with the clear gaze of the experienced parent, uploading a Family Vacation Gone Wrong video may be more therapeutic than whatever you give a toddler with a hangover. Winning that ten thousand dollar dream vacation would go a long way towards erasing any memories of the initial bad travel experience.

Stay away from FLIPKEY rentals. FL rental was named ‘luxury’ and was far from this! Don’t know what kind of dirt bags would consider this luxury but be warned. We paid $2500 and ripped off $1500 while still disputing with credit card company. Pictures must have been 10 years old. Owner does this ‘all the time’. FLIPKEY doesn’t respond to correspondences. If you don’t know the house or haven’t seen it – stay at a hotel instead!
