I’m counting the hours until I hop on a plane bound for Belize. I’ve never been to this Central American country, but my husband (who has) speaks highly of it — especially of the crystal-clear water that’s ideal for snorkeling and scuba diving off of Ambergris Caye, one of the stops on my very busy itinerary.
The Belize Tourism Board has organized the fast-paced schedule in an effort to give me, and four other fabulous travel bloggers, an overview of the country in a short period of time. I’ll figure I’ll take it all in, appreciate the wonderful opportunities we’ll have (snorkeling with sharks! ziplining! cave tubing!) and sleep on the way home. I’ll also take note of the accommodations and locations that are particularly family friendly, in the hopes of returning with my kids one day.
Accompanying me on this trip are:
- Christine Gilbert of Almost Fearless. Last year, Christine quit her Fortune 500 job to be a “digital nomad.” She recently wrote an awesome series of posts detailing how you, too, can “Redefine your life & travel the world.”
- Kerrin Rousset of My Kugelhopf. Kerrin is an expat who makes her home in Switzerland (right now anyway) and delivers the most beautiful photographs on her blog dedicated to her travels and her exploration of all things having to do with food (especially sweets!).
- Melanie Waldman of Travels with Two. Melanie focuses on couples’ travel at her blog that I love to visit since it a) reminds me of all the carefree trips I took with my husband before kids and b) reminds me of all the carefree trips I’m going to take with my husband once both of my kids are in college.
Gennaro Salamone of Enduring Wanderlust. Our lone male participant on this trip to Belize oversees the editorial content at Enduring Wanderlust, which is more online magazine than typical blog, and chock full of travel tips, gear reviews and worldwide destination coverage.
We’ll be Tweeting our adventures, using the hashtag #BelizeTrip, and we hope you’ll follow along. I’m also going to try to blog a bit while I’m in Belize (barring any Internet connection trouble), so keep an eye on The Vacation Gals next week, too, for live updates of my travels.

Wonderful! Look like a great trip with all my favorite travel bloggers.
Can’t wait to hear all about it!
