It doesn’t matter where I’m traveling, I always pack workout clothes. At the least, I like to don some sneakers and a sports bra to take an exercise walk around a new-to-me city (like I did along the Esplanade in Cairns, Australia, last week); working out in a hotel fitness center is less preferable, but I’ll do it, if I can squeeze in even a half-hour of cardio or strength training before a day of sightseeing. My favorite trips are those that focus on incorporating outdoor exercise into day’s activities — like hiking, kayaking, surfing or skiing.
As an active traveler, I like exercise clothes that are lightweight and pack well. Some new items from ISIS fit that bill well. This awesome women’s clothing manufacturer produces some really cute — and functional — activewear, such as capris, dresses, skirts and rain jackets. Here’s what I’ve been testing over the past couple weeks, on my travels and around my Colorado home.
ISIS Dash Skort: This is my new favorite running skirt. The stretchy material – a soft blend of polyester and spandex — is super light; the skort weighs less than 4 oz. Roll it up, and it takes up very little space in my luggage, that’s for sure. The material offers built-in UPF 30+ sun protection, but also releases heat and moisture so I remain cool while working out. The two-inch waistband doesn’t roll at all, and the built-in “boy shorts” don’t ride up. I love how the skirt provides enough thigh coverage (15 inches in length) for this middle-aged jogger. A zip security pocket at the back waist keeps keys and smaller items safe and handy. $59.
ISIS Henna Sport Bra: From the Henna intimates collection, this stretchy, soft, seamless bra is non-chafing. It offers plenty of support (comes in different cup sizes) with its racerback style. I love that the nylon/spandex material wicks moisture away quickly. The swirly design is feminine and fun. An interior note — “You are a goddess” — makes me grin every time I put it on. Matching underwear — hipsters and panties — are also available. $39
ISIS Simplici-Tee: I dig the soft feel of this short-sleeve, V-neck T-shirt made of a DriRelease fabric — a blend of natural and synthetic fibers (polyester, tencel and spandex). It is also incredibly lightweight and has a long fit (26 inches), so it’s especially good for long torsos. The material is also treated with FreshGuard, so it helps “neutralize odors” (i.e. you’ll smell less funky after a workout than if you were wearing a 100% cotton shirt). It also has UPF 30+ sun protection.
My only caveat with this shirt is that I tested it in the white color, which is super see-through. It’s way too sheer (i.e. you can fully see my bra and belly button) to wear, say, to the grocery store or hotel fitness center. But I’ll wear it while I run on my basement treadmill. I think I’d much prefer a darker color Simplici-Tee, such as the “watermelon” hue, pictured above. $49

Love these! Since my travel schedule has picked up considerably, I definitely need something lightweight to pack for my workouts.
