Last month, in conjunction with Hyatt Resorts’ Best of All Worlds Challenge on Facebook, I told you about my personal favorite Hyatt Resort, the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek. I admire this property so much, I actually spent my 40th birthday there last year. My good friend Kristina also spent her 40th birthday last year at a Hyatt Resort that is slightly further afield from our Colorado homes: the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa. In fact, she and her husband Jim are no strangers to this fabulous property in Poipu: they spent Jim’s 40th birthday there, as well, three years ago.
I asked Kristina why she’d return twice to the same expensive resort in Hawaii within just a few years, and she said, “So many reasons!” So I asked her for a few highlights of the Grand Hyatt Kauai. In her words:
- I loved, loved, loved, just walking around the property outside at night. They do a little ceremony to light all of the torches-it is gorgeous. There are lots of places to sit near the ocean and just listen and watch. There is also a lot of entertainment… we were very content just to hang around the hotel on our last trip.
- Loved the pool. It has waterslides-and lazy river, there is a lagoon, and adult pool. We rented the same two cabanas all week (highly recommend), so it was fun to just hang in the cabana on the ocean, than run over to the pool, or the lagoon-the food and cocktails were great, and the servers were very quick (we never felt like we were looking for a server to get us a drink-they were always just there).
- The lobby is gorgeous.
- Loved the sushi served at the Library on certain nights. It has a great outside intimate patio with an incredible view.
- The staff is very friendly.
- The spa is very mellow and calm. Loved that it’s all outdoors. We, believe it or not, went to the fitness center every a.m. They had great equipment, and it never seemed too crowded. I took a couple aerobic classes too, that kicked my butt!
Well, with that hearty endorsement, I’m ready to stay at the Grand Hyatt Kauai! I’ve been to Kauai twice, and would absolutely love to spend more time in the sunny, southern area of Poipu, particularly at the Grand Hyatt Kauai.
Where would you go if you could visit any Hyatt Resort in the world? Just tell me in the comments below and you can win 66,000 Gold Passport points: enough to stay at any worldwide Hyatt Resort for three nights! Pretty, cool, huh?
Check out the Hyatt Resorts website, where you can browse by style of vacation (mountain, beach, spa, etc.) or geographic location. You can enter daily through August 31 at 6 p.m. PDT; I don’t mind if you tell me the same resort over and over again! Or you can select different ones for each entry (again, no more than one entry a day). I’ll announce the winner — selected via comment number generated by Random.org — on Winning Wednesday, September 1. No immediate family members of The Vacation Gals are eligible.
And if you’d like to increase your chances to win free nights at Hyatt Resorts, hop on over to the Hyatt Resorts Facebook page and enter the current Best of All Worlds Challenge. With that promotion, you upload your celebratory vacation photos by August 23 to win 44,000 Gold Passport points.
