I’m certain I don’t need to tell our well-traveled regular readers of The Vacation Gals why it’s “good not to be home” when you’re vacationing, whether it’s a solo trip, family vacation, romantic escape, manly adventure or girlfriend getaway. After all, in addition to experiencing new destinations, cultures, foods and landmarks, simply knowing that you get to take a break from daily life is all part of the excitement of booking travel!
For me, I’m typically pleased “not to be home” because of three simple words: hotel maid service. My family will be the first to tell you that I’m not the world’s best housekeeper. Enjoying that simple luxury of having someone tidy up my toiletries in the bathroom or make my (big king!) bed every morning is heaven to me. Of course, then there’s dining room service, lobby bars, on-site swimming pools, and my favorite, tricked-out hotel spas.
Check out this funny video featuring comedians Megan Gailey, Andrew Kennedy, Negin Farsad as they chatted with unsuspecting travelers in Hyatt Regency hotels across the country to help guests remind guests why it’s great “not to be home”:
The making of this clever video, shared on the Hyatt Regency brand’s social channels, is in conjunction with a fun #PassportToComedy campaign from Hyatt Regency and Comedy Central. As part of the Hyatt Gold Passport sponsorship of the New York Comedy Festival, travelers and members of Hyatt Gold Passport (the global loyalty program for all Hyatt brands) can enter the Passport to Comedy Sweepstakes through December 31, 2015, for the chance to win a VIP Daily Show experience, a trip to the New York Comedy Festival and more.
When you click over to the Passports to Comedy Sweepstakes page, check out the video series featuring Iliza Shlesinger, which launched just prior to New York Comedy Festival and that also use humor to demonstrate why it’s good not to be home. Simply put, this campaign draws on an insight Hyatt Regency heard from guests about the freedom that travel provides to break from routine, meet new people and to do things the way you want to do them (i.e. sleep sideways in the big bed when I’m by myself traveling on business!)
And after you enter the Passport to Comedy Sweepstakes, share your own “not at home” moments with the hashtags #PassportToComedy and #AtHyattRegency and by tagging @HyattRegency.
The Vacation Gals wish you a happy season of travel and “not being at home,” whether it’s during these upcoming holidays or in the new year!
