Ilikai Hotel & Suites is an Aqua Boutique hotel. There are fifteen Aqua hotels in Hawaii, with the majority being in Waikiki on Oahu. None of The Vacation Gals has personally stayed in or toured the Ilikai Hotel & Suites, but its location is known to us and is pretty great: Right on the curving edge of 
Waikiki Beach, this Aqua Boutique hotel has views of the ocean, Diamond Head, Honolulu and the photogenic Ala Wai Yacht Harbor & Marina. This makes the Ilikai situated in a relatively quieter part of Waikiki, which can get loud at night. Like all Aqua Hotels and Resorts in Hawaii, the Ilikai offers its guests amenities like daily deluxe continental breakfast, WiFi internet access in rooms and lobby, daily local newspaper, local & toll-free calls, 40″ or 42″ LCD HDTVs, in-room fridge, safe, intimate pool area, and fitness center. The rooms and suites all have lanais, or large balconies, to take full advantage of the panoramic views.
Oahu is the most popular travel destination of the Hawaiian islands, and Waikiki the most common “home base” for tourists. On a recent trip to Oahu, I was impressed with the island’s ability to be all things to all people — that is, West Oahu and the North Shore provide the luxury and paradiasical escape that one associates with Hawaii postcards and TV shoots (LOST, and more recently much of Hawaii Five-O, being filmed there), while Waikiki is the largest cosmopolitan mecca in Hawaii, with a plethora of shopping and restaurants to chose from. The nightlife in Chinatown is terrific fun; bar hopping on First Fridays can’t be missed by travelers over the age of 21. A quick drive to Honolulu offers an expanded array of high-end Honolulu dining, but honestly, there are enough great restaurants in Waikiki alone that the culinary traveler in anyone would be satisfied.
The world’s largest outdoor shopping center, the Ala Moana Center, is a 3-minute drive or 15-minute walk 
from Aqua Boutique’s Ilikai Hotel & Suites. This hotel is recommended for family travel and romantic vacations; except for when there are fireworks over the Marina, the Ilikai is quiet at night, and the rooms are notably spacious. It’s nice to have room to spread out.
