The New Year is almost upon us and I can tell you that 2013 is going to be a pretty life changing year for me as I’ve already made a commitment to lead a healthier, fitter life (more on that later) and I’m going to prove my dedication by partaking in the Life Time Fitness Commitment Day 5k . What is Commitment Day? On January 1, 2013 over 300,000 people in 30 cities will run, jog or walk the Commitment Day 5k as a promise to lead a Healthy Way of Life. As Life Time Fitness says, forget making a resolution. Make a commitment.
While New Year’s Day is always about a fresh start and new beginnings, Life Time Fitness is inspiring people to keep that mentality year-round and life-long.
The best part about the Commitment Day 5k “race” (it’s a fun run, not timed) is you don’t have to be a member to join in. Invite your family, friends, co-workers, neighbors or just do it yourself – or with me if you live in Minnesota (let me know and we’ll meet up for the run!). You’ll feel good and inspired to start the year off on a fun and healthy note and there’s a good chance you will inspire someone else to make a positive change.
Oh, and you will also receive a t-shirt and a journal to help with food tracking. Who doesn’t love swag?
I’ve been a member of Life Time Fitness since I relocated to the Twin Cities in 2009 and one of the things I like about this fitness club is its philosophy. Life Time is all about making the world a healthier place – including for our kids – and they back that up by offering a variety of tools, programs, classes and even LifeLab where you can have tests done that will reveal exactly what your body is lacking and needs to be a healthier you. Oh, and they have an awesome kids room. There are also many races offered through the club year-round Just this past Thanksgiving I ran the Life Time Fitness Turkey Day 5k and what fun it was! The spirit was lively and it broke a record with over 14,000 people in the Minneapolis race. Life Time knows how to throw a party!
