New Year’s Eve in Times Square – possibly as iconic to New York City holidays as is the Thanksgiving Day Parade and the lighting of the Rockefeller Christmas Tree. The Vacation Gals are not in NYC for New Year’s Eve this year, but I used to live there and believe me; Times Square on New Year’s Eve is quite a scene. Here are some tips for visiting NYC on New Year’s Eve, and here are some other fun New Year’s Eve events in the city throughout the day. This year, I won’t be in NYC to ring in the New Year, I’ll be with friends in Southern California. Not too shabby; the Rose Bowl Parade always puts on a great show. Now, it has never, ever rained on the Tournament of Roses in Pasadena, but this past week has been unbelievably wet in Los Angeles. It would certainly be…interesting, at least, if it rained on the Rose Bowl Parade for the first time in history. There are plenty of New Year’s Eve celebrations across the country and the world; even if you’re traveling (ESPECIALLY if you’re traveling), we hope you have a great night.
As we get ready to say hello to 2011, many of us are forgoing the usual “what happened to 2010?” and “time flies by so fast” thoughts, while we prepare for a fun, possibly epic night of revelry. While, yes, I tend to get nostalgic and sentimental around this time of year, I usually save it for quiet moments of reflection. New Year’s Eve is all about fun, friendship, and group gatherings! Not to mention the repeated toasts to the New Year. Let’s remember above all to be responsible adults — if you’re planning to join your friends in those repeated toast to the New Year, be sure to have a designated driver to get you wherever you need to be by the end of the party. Fun, friendship, and safe travels: Those are the Vacation Gals’ wishes for you in the New Year. Happy 2011!
