Rooms Just for Women at the Georgian Court Hotel in Vancouver

Flat irons, In Style and yoga mats grace the 18 rooms dedicated to women on the 10th Orchid Floor of Vancouver’s Georgian Court Hotel. Even though I don’t often straighten my hair, read fashion magazines or do yoga, I was still enamored with these amenities and others — curling iron, emergency pair of black nylons, tampons, satin-covered and skirt hangers — in my one-bedroom Executive Suite accommodations at this conveniently located downtown hotel.

That's a lap desk on the bed of my Executive Suite. Why don't more American hotels have these? Great amenity!

I stayed at the Georgian Court for not much more than 16 hours before hopping on the Rocky Mountaineer from Vancouver to Banff last fall. Though my stay was short, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the property to anyone heading to Vancouver — for business, on a romantic urban trip or on a girlfriend getaway. For women, the Orchid Floor has various room configurations — including ones with double beds, so it would work if you’re hitting the big city with female friends in tow and want to bunk together. The King Room is great for couples, as are the Executive Suites, with their king-size beds and a separate living area. Rooms are tastefully decorated in warm browns and beige, mahogany furniture and comfortable bedding.

The front-desk staff super friendly and helpful; they suggested a walk down nearby Robson Street, filled with restaurants, coffee shops and boutiques for me to find a snack to eat before dinner. I love that in-room wireless Internet at the Georgian Court is complimentary, and guests have use of a small fitness center, steamroom and indoor whirlpool. Need more exercise? Ask for the map of a neighborhood jogging route or borrow a bike — another nice complimentary service.

Sitting area in the spacious, corner Executive Suite on the 10th floor; huge windows afford great city views.

If you need a ride somewhere downtown, you can make use of the complimentary shuttle bus (from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.). On-site dining includes a bar & grill and a casual bistro, and there’s a complimentary business center if you’re working on the go. To top it off, if you’re traveling with Fido, he’s welcome at the Georgian Court — this hotel is pet-friendly. Cats are welcome, too!

The property is quite close to BC Place and Rogers Arena, so if you’re in town for a concert or a Vancouver Canucks game, this is a convenient place to stay; check out the concert or game packages. Rates based on double occupancy start at $139/night through the end of the month.

I enjoyed a complimentary stay at the Georgian Court Hotel while on a media trip sponsored in part by Woolrich.

Sounds fabulous – as does the Rocky Mountaineer trip. I’m hoping to see Canada via rail in the next couple of years; I’m making note of this hotel, too. I always travel with my sisters and the “women’s floor” sounds perfect for a few days in Vancouver before boarding the train. Thanks!
