Southern California Wine Country

Did you know there’s a Southern California wine country? To be honest, I didn’t until last summer when I was surfing the net for wine tour trolleys in Northern CA and came across the Valley Trolley in Temecula, California.

Temecula, in Southern California wine country, sits between San Diego and Los Angeles and is actually quite a charming little town. You won’t find Mickey Mouse or Shamu, but you will find a lot of grown-up things to do.

In fact, when I took a couple of days to see the town, thank you to the Temecula Valley Convention and Visitors Bureau, I found it is a great place to have a little romantic getaway with the hubby (hot air balloon ride then a day of wine tasting) or a weekend away with the girls complete with a mani/pedi and a massage at the lovely South Coast Winery Resort and Spa. (Seriously, this place is gorgeous and the Spinach Salad with Provencal Shrimp is delish!) Old Town is a cute area of Temecula with shops and dining. The Temecula Olive Oil Company in Old Town has olive oil and vinegar tastings, yes you “shoot” the oil/vinegar out of a little cup – good times! You can pick up some great gifts or fresh bread here, too. (I bought the bleu cheese stuffed olives – yum!). Looking for a cozy place to stay? Try the Temecula Creek Inn; you won’t be sorry.

If you’re looking for a new place for a getaway with the girls or your guy, I recommend checking out this California treasure.
