Thanksgiving Parade Floats and Balloon Pictures

Did you see any pictures of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade balloons and floats? The Thanksgiving Day Parade in NYC has come and gone for another year, and by now even the mess left behind has been expertly cleaned up.  Most of us saw pictures, video, and photos of the Thanksgiving Day Parade floats and balloons on TV. I was around 3,000 miles away from New York City this year, spending Thanksgiving Day in Santa Barbara. Yes, I admit it, a short vacation with my family means that I missed the parade altogether! A bunch of my NYC friends went to view the Thanksgiving Day Parade in person, though, and had a great time. Best of all, my oldest friend (we met in 2nd grade) scored a real coup – he got to sit in the bandstand! Imagine how delighted his young son was, snapping photographs of the most famous Thanksgiving Day parade from prime seats; what a treat for a family Thanksgiving in New York City.

Two of the new giant balloons for Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade are Kung-Fu Panda and the Wimpy Kid (my 4th grader loves those books).  It must have been thrilling to see the parade live, and live performances along the way as well. My dear friend Steve and his family had some of the best seats along the parade route, and it’s just luck and a professional relationship that got them there. The bandstand seats are excellent, but he’s the first person I know to have been able to score them. I used to enjoy craning my neck to see around taller people towards the beginning of the Thanksgiving Day Parade route, around Central Park West on the Upper West Side. Have no doubt: Bandstand seats are better. Thank you, Steve, for letting me share some of your Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade pictures here. I bet I know one of the things you’re thankful for this year.
