I believe tickets are only a dollar apiece, and it's a delightful ride. Also, a walk through the conservatory is interesting, even if the kids don't have a lot of patience for it. But yes, the doors are awkward with a stroller. I'm glad you're finding Minnesotans to be friendly and helpful! Amy, the Henry Vilas Zoo in Madison, WI, is also very nice and is free. I couldn't believe that it was free! My boys loved the orangutans and gorillas the best, and the butterfly garden was incredible! We ate in the little restaurant to help support the zoo, and then we went across the street and played mini golf. It is definitely a gem in the middle of a big city! Look like he/she had a relaxing day. That's so nice that a zoo in a major city is free. It's unheard of. The only Zoo I know that is free is in DC but that's because it's part of the Smithsonian.
