The Parenting Guide for the Rest of Us

You may remember when I met the fun-loving Today Show producers Alicia Ybarbo and Mary Ann Zoellner in 2009 when they stopped by my local Tucson Miraval Resort and Spa for Author’s Month just before the release of their first book Today’s Moms: Essentials for Surviving Baby’s First Year.

When I heard this power pair were collaborating with Laurie Kilmartin and Karen Moline on a funny parenting book I couldn’t wait to read their humorous take on parenthood.

Let’s face it, there is no parenting school. That’s what made their first book so valuable. We dive in as excited mothers anxious to partake in this wonderful thing called mommyhood only to discover that it’s nothing like we thought. We have two choices: go mad or laugh. The latter of the two is where the book Sh*tty Mom: The Parenting Guide for the Rest of Us

When I first cracked open my review copy to somewhere in the middle I immediately laughed out loud. I can’t remember what it was that was so funny, but I recall thinking, that is so true!

The book kicks off with a hilarious rant about road tripping with the family – hey, we totally understand that topic here at The Vacation Gals – but as I’m finding, this book is covering the gamut of parenthood in a funny, sarcastic and oh-so-witty manner. I won’t offer any spoilers here because it’s one of those books that you just have to read!

Throw Sh*tty Mom: The Parenting Guide for the Rest of Us in your purse for your next trip to the park, wait in the carpool line or 12-hour road trip. After reading this one, you may not feel like such a sh*tty mom after all or at least you will feel like you are in good company.

Thank you to Abrams publishing for sending me a review copy of this funny book.
