I spent most of the winter and spring staying in budget hotels (motels!) throughout Colorado, traipsing around the state attending my kids’ volleyball tournaments and track meets. I’m all about saving my pennies for these frequent trips, and take no issue with no-frills Comfort Inns, Super 8s, and La Quinta properties. But when it came time to book a room in downtown Denver for my husband, my son and me for a quick summer stay in the big city, I didn’t want to cut corners. We enjoyed a thoroughly relaxing and comfortable night at The Ritz-Carlton, Denver.
The location of The Ritz-Carlton, Denver’s is ideal. From its corner of 18th and Curtis, it’s super easy to walk just about anywhere in downtown Denver. (On our evening agenda: gourmet burgers at Hopdoddy Burger Bar and Cirque du Soleil’s LUZIA at the Pepsi Center). But The Ritz-Carlton, Denver will also give you a free lift anywhere within a 3-mile radius, and that includes Coors Field, the Denver Art Museum, the Denver Zoo and dozens and dozens of awesome restaurants.
Rooms are touted as being some of the largest in Denver, and I can believe it. My husband, son and I never felt as though we were tripping over one another in our 540-square-foot Deluxe City View Guest Room, complete with two queen beds with Frette linens, an oversized soaking tub, Nespresso machine for morning java and an inviting dark hardwood foyer. These rooms underwent a refresh in 2015, and they are decorated with really cool artwork (mine depicted night scenes), blue and tan textured carpeting, and crisp white bedding.
Also getting a more recent redesign are the lobby and meeting spaces. The urban and sophisticated vibe features modern furniture, artwork, and floor coverings in a color palette of neutral champagne-silver tones with deep blue, gold and soft white. I’m partial to the gorgeous Chihuly-esque hand-blown chandelier that hangs in the space above the flight of stairs that connects the ground-level lobby with the meeting-space/ballroom floor level.
Other perks you can enjoy while staying at The Ritz-Carlton, Denver: Its sublime 6,00-square-foot spa; the new on-site fitness center as well as access to the humongous TruFit Fitness Club adjacent to the hotel; and ELWAY’S downtown, the property’s on-site steakhouse.
I paid a media rate to stay at The Ritz-Carlton Denver.
