Acadia National Park
Acadia is a 47,000 acre Atlantic coast National Park and one of the top things to do in Maine. There are a variety of fun and unique things to do in Acadia National Park from hiking to scenic drives, lookouts and lighthouses.
A few of our favorite hikes are the Precipices Trail and Beehive Trail. The Precipices has you climbing about 1,000 feet straight up the side of the Champlain Mountain. This isn’t just switch backs it is climbing up ladders and along the edge of cliffs to make it to the top.
Beehive trail is similar to Precipices trail but on a smaller scale. If you aren’t sure about doing the Precipices trail it is smart to start with the Beehive trail.
Cadillac Mountain is a gorgeous scenic drive that takes you to the top of the mountain where you can look down over Bar Harbor and all around Acadia National Park.
The Bass Harbor Head lighthouse is quintessential Maine! This is the picture you see in your head when you think of Maine. The ocean crashing against the rocky cliff with a lighthouse sitting on top of it!
We recommend a 3 day Acadia National Park Itinerary to see all parts of the park. Including some of the lesser known areas. The 3 day itinerary will take you around 3 sections in Acadia National Park: Schoodic Peninsula, Great Loop Road and The Quiet Side and Bar Harbor.

Bar Harbor Maine
Bar Harbor is the gateway town to Acadia National Park. Plus home to a beautiful harbor, shops, restaurants and tours out on the water. One of our favorite things to do in Bar Harbor Maine was the LuLu Lobster Boat tour. On the tour we learned all about lobstering in Maine.
They took us out and around Egg Rock Lighthouse and taught us all about the history of Lobster Fisherman in Maine. After seeing the lighthouse they showed us how they catch lobster and we all got to hold one! It was a fun experience and one we highly recommend.
In Bar Harbor you don’t want to miss the Happy Clam Shack. Here you can get fresh lobster, lobster bisque, pie and more!
